THAILAND UPDATE

Thailand re-opening

Both the Phuket Sandbox and Samui Plus programs are going ahead as usual, and the reopening of Krabi and Phang Nga to fully vaccinated international tourists is set to start later this month. Also the government has plans to reduce the mandatory stay in Phuket to 7 days

Thailand News – World Heritage Site

The Kaeng Krachan Forest Complex has been added to UNESCO’s World Heritage List making it Thailand’s sixth World Heritage Site. Located inside Thailand’s largest national park of the same name, Kaeng Krachan Forest Complex covers 464,000 hectares and is easily accessible from Hua Hin

Thailand News – Coral Reefs

From 4th August, Thailand has banned the use of sunscreens containing harmful chemicals including oxybenzone, octinoxate, 4MBC and butylparaben in the country’s national parks, in order to protect the endangered coral reefs.

Thailand Hotel Update – ‘Six Senses Forestias’, Bangkok (opening 2023)

‘Six Senses’ will open their first project in Bangkok in 2023. The standalone “green” city of ‘Forestias’, on the outskirts of Bangkok is slated to cover an area of 64 hectares, in keeping with ‘Six Senses’ holistic approach

Thailand Hotel Update – ‘Melia Chiang Mai’ (opening end of 2021)

Meliá Chiang Mai, a new 260 room hotel that towers over the River Ping and bustling Night Bazaar in the heart of Chiang Mai city in Thailand’s mountainous north, is slated to open its doors for business in the fourth quarter of 2021

 Thailand Hotel Update – ‘INNSiDE by Melia Bangkok’ (opening 2022)

The five-star hotel is part of the Meliá brand’s roll-out plan in key destinations across Thailand. INNSiDE by Meliá Bangkok Sukhumvit, the first property of its brand in Thailand, and located close to the Suvarnabhumi Airport, is due to open in 2022.

Thailand Hotel Update – ‘Hyatt Regency Phuket Resort’ (opening end of 2021)

Scheduled to reopen in the fourth quarter of 2021, Hyatt Regency Phuket Resort features 201 rooms and suites. The resort is located at Kamala Beach, a short drive from Patong Beach and a 40-minute taxi transfer from the airport.
