Thailand Festival News / ‘Songkran’ (Thai New Year)

Thailand will hold the ‘Songkran Festival’ (Thai New Year) activities nationwide from 1 to 21 April 2024. ‘Songkran’ is the traditional Thai New Year which is traditionally observed as a three-day national holiday. The main activities are the pouring of scented water onto sacred Buddha images and the palms of one’s parents, as well as the famous water-splashing activity.

This extravaganza aims to be among the top 10 global events. 

Thailand News / ‘River Kwai Anzac Day Commemorations’

‘Hellfire Pass Interpretive Centre’ will host the upcoming ‘Anzac Day Dawn Service’ which will be held on Thursday 25 April 2024. This is an official memorial service by both the Australian and New Zealand Governments to remember the former POWs incarcerated at the River Kwai concentration camp during the Second World War. Large screen broadcasting ceremony live from Hellfire Pass Memorial for those not wishing to make their way down to the pass.

Japan Experiences / ‘Tokyo Night and Light’

Tokyo has a new tourist attraction – but you’ll need to lift your eyes up high to see it.

‘Tokyo Night & Light’ is a projection mapping display which uses light and sound as an expression of multi-coloured art, with the ‘Tokyo Metropolitan Government Building’, one of Tokyo’s main landmarks, as its canvas. This attraction holds a Guinness World Record title for the largest permanent architectural projection-mapped display.

Cambodia Hotel News / ‘Cardamom Tented Camp’

Cambodia’s award-winning conservation lodge, ‘Cardamom Tented Camp’, has joined ‘The Long Run’, an international grouping of sustainable nature-based tourism businesses dedicated to conservation, community, culture and commerce. A proportion of profits from the camp helps fund patrols by 16 forest rangers. Since opening in 2017, those patrols have protected the forest reserve and several at-risk species, such as Asian elephants, smooth-coated otters, leopards and hornbills whose populations have increased due to rigorous habitat protection

Down below the seas around Thailand there are also many ‘Whale Sharks’ which carry the record of being the biggest fish in the world. Thailand is also home to the biggest living lizard in the world – ‘The Monitor Lizard’, which can grow up to 7 feet. Monitor Lizards are commonly seen in the public parks of Bangkok
